Procession and Mass for St. Anthony of Padua - 10am to 11am, St Mary's Catholic Church, Lawrence St.


Veterans from the Italian Army's Alpini Brigade will carry the statue of St Anthony in a procession into the church where a Mass will be said in the saint's honour. You are very welcome to take part in this moving occasion.

 

 

 

Jim van Geet Art Exhibition - 10am to 5pm, 'Reign of Pearls' 29-31 Clyde St.

Jim van Geet is a multi-award winning artist represented by galleries nationally and internationally. He is best known for his evocative portraits and figurative paintings and this exhibition will feature a number of those works as well as his “ Masquerade “ series from Florence. The exhibition will also be open on the Sunday.

Food & Wine Festa - 10.30am to 5pm, Clyde St.



Clyde Street will be buzzing with visitors sampling our wonderful local wines and great regional produce, including traditional dishes from around Italy. Wine tasting glasses will be available for sale.

Musicians will mingle, bringing their own special piece of Italy to the day. There will also be a baristas race, face painting and a puppet show for the kids, a grape treading competition and a special attraction called 'The Tree of Fortune' - click here for more information about these fun activities.

'Laughter the Italian Way' - 1pm, Myrtleford Neighbourhood Centre (next to Memorial Hall, Myrtle St.)

Join the Myrtleford Laughter Club for 'Laughter the Italian Way'. Laughter Yoga utilizes simple laughter exercises which quickly stimulates natural spontaneous laughter. It's fun, easy & suitable for people of all ages & levels of fittness. The health benefits for mind & body are numerous. You will leave feeling happy, energized & uplifted.  The session is free & run by certified leaders who volunteer their time. Italy has 23 Laughter Clubs from Abruzzo to Veneto.

Nonni in Cucina cooking demonstrations - 2pm to 4pm, St. Paul's church hall

Italian 'Nonni' are justly famous for their cooking, especially when it comes to preparing traditional Italian dishes. This is your chance to learn some of their techniques. The demonstrations commence at 2pm. Renowned local chef, Patrizia Simone, will be on hand to describe what is happening.

The hall is right next to the Food & Wine Festa. Entry is $5 per person and admission includes copies of the recipes.

 

 

Italian Heritage Display - 2pm to 5pm, Old School Museum, Elgin St


During the Second World War, many hundreds of captured Italian soldiers were imprisoned in a camp near Myrtleford at Whorouly East. This exhibition will display images and other items from the camp. Entry is by gold coin donation and the exhibit is also open on the Sunday.

You also have an opportunity to visit the camp site. A free escorted tour leaves the Old School Museum at 4pm on both days. Simply follow the museum guide in your own vehicle.

 

 

 

Italian Connection Trophy Rally Motorkhana - Myrtleford Savoy Club carpark

The cars competing in the 2012 Italian Connection Trophy Rally are expected at the Myrtleford Savoy Sporting Club during the afternoon for a motorkhana. This is a test of driving skill as each car races against the clock around an obstacle course. Lots of fun!

"Concert of Italian Gems" - 8pm, Myrtleford Performing Arts Centre, Prince St.

This will be a wonderful evening of Italian choral works ranging from the baroque to arias, madrigals, medieval love songs and other gems performed by members of the Wangaratta Choristers. Myrtleford's gleaming new Performing Arts Centre is the venue and you can be assured of a great night's entertainment. Programme will be available soon.
